This hidden gem, also called the 'Santorini of Spain', is a beautiful little town in the Region of Valencia. It’s just a 15-minute drive from Benidorm and about an hour and a half from Valencia city.
Santorini is one of the most famous Greek islands, known for its amazing views and is a top travel destination around the world.
But because it’s so popular, it can also be quite expensive, especially if you're eating out or staying in fancy places. So this hidden gem in Spain is a great alternative!
With this in mind, a travel lover has shared a tip on how to get a similar experience for less money by visiting a place they call the 'Santorini of Spain'.
That place is Altea, a "small, picturesque town in the Region of Valencia, 15 minutes from Benidorm and about an hour and a half from Valencia city."
Travel blogger Dorota, known as @wanderlust__ever on Instagram, shared this hidden gem in a reel that was also posted on the @discovervalencia Instagram page.
The video starts with Dorota walking down one of Altea’s cobbled streets, with the words, 'The Santorini of Spain that no one is talking about...' on the screen. She then shows off 'Altea on Costa Blanca', pointing out sights like the pebbly beach and its crystal-clear water.
The caption gives more info about Altea, saying it’s "a must-visit". You can explore the old town, admire the cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings, and see hanging plants and bright flowers, like bougainvillaea, around every corner.
Some other places to check out include the beautiful San Miguel Arcangel Russian Orthodox Church and the amazing views from the Plaza de la Iglesia Viewing Point, which were described as "breathtaking".
