New South Wales is home to some of Australia's most famous attractions, including the world’s most Instagrammed restaurant and the country’s most iconic beach.
But if you ask a local, they'll tell you the real charm of NSW lies in the hidden spots off the tourist trail. If you're looking for ideas for your next Aussie adventure, you’re in the right place.
A new study has revealed the top ten hidden gem destinations in Australia, and two of the best are right here in NSW.
Australia might be the largest island on Earth, but it’s surrounded by 8,222 smaller islands.

This stunning World Heritage-listed island has the world’s most southern coral reef. With a rule allowing only 400 visitors at a time, it remains one of the most untouched spots in the state.
Other islands on the list include South Australia’s remote Kangaroo Island in third place (723,500 searches) and Queensland’s Moreton Island in fourth (642,500).
