A new "hidden gem" island is becoming a favourite winter holiday spot for people wanting sunshine without all the tourist crowds.
This quiet island is now seen as the perfect place for a sunny winter break, especially for those who want to avoid busy, packed resorts.
Searches for "winter sun holiday deals" have shot up by 180% recently, with more people choosing winter sun over summer trips. Around 33% now prefer winter holidays in the sun, compared to 31% who still choose summer getaways.

La Gomera, one of the lesser-known Canary Islands, has made it into the top 15 spots for warm winter weather. It’s only about six hours from the UK.
If you want a stress-free break, La Gomera is a great pick from the list of lesser-known island escapes.
With more than 608,200 Instagram hashtags, this peaceful island is loved for its volcanic views, green forests, and mild weather all year round—perfect for getting away from it all.
In December, it still reaches a pleasant 17°C, much warmer than the UK’s average of 6°C.

The island’s natural beauty makes it ideal for walking and hiking fans. There are trails in El Cedro and misty forest paths in Garajonay National Park.
If you prefer a slower pace, La Gomera has 56 miles of peaceful coast to explore, with quiet beaches and hidden coves.
In the evenings, head to the capital, San Sebastian, where you can enjoy local bars, restaurants, shops, and lovely town squares.
