This hidden gem in Spain was recently named one of the best short-haul holiday spots for October.
If you want to escape the chilly UK autumn, why not enjoy some sunshine before winter hits this October half-term?
Southern Europe stays warm during this time, but places like mainland Spain often get less attention compared to the Balearic and Canary Islands.
However, there's a beautiful part of Spain that offers fantastic beach holidays with temperatures reaching 22°C in October – perfect for a half-term break.
Located just south of Barcelona, Costa Dorada is a coastal paradise with the lively town of Salou, the historic city of Tarragona, and the food lover's dream town of Cambrils.
Its growing popularity hasn't gone unnoticed. According to Which?, Costa Dorada is one of the best short-haul destinations for October, alongside Vienna and Athens, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
Experts have praised the area, saying, "Not only does Costa Dorada offer 125 miles of beaches, but it's also home to the Roman town of Tarragona, with its old town and seaside amphitheatre. Barcelona and the Montserrat mountains are easy day trips if you hire a car."
The guide also mentioned that "Salou has Blue Flag beaches and Spain's largest theme park, PortAventura. Another great resort is Sitges, a charming town with stylish shops and trendy restaurants."
In October, you can enjoy six hours of sunshine each day, and the sea is still warm enough for a swim.
Salou, the bustling heart of Costa Dorada, is known for its beautiful beaches, numerous restaurants, and stunning sea views – especially at sunset. It's a great size for families, and if you're in the mood for city life, Barcelona is only a 90-minute train ride away.
